Hellenic Club Aquarium – Case Study

We were recently afforded a unique opportunity by one of our clients, the Hellenic Club, Canberra to produce a custom animation for an LED video feature wall we had previously installed at their establishment.

The brief – Create an underwater themed animation with a cartoonish feel.

The Hellenic Club gave us reasonable freedom to imprint some of our own style into the animation. With a combination of licensed stock models, custom models and using Cinema 4D’s basic deformer tools exclusively, we set about giving life to a myriad of sea creatures and plant life. For this project we used C4D Visualise and After Effects for comping.

Despite C4D Visualise not containing the full breadth of C4D Studio’s tools we leveraged what was available to create a stylized, yet authentic underwater visual experience. Naturally the Wind deformation got a robust workout, as did the Squash and Stretch deformation and even the vibrate tag. I personally think people under estimate the power contained in these simple deformer tools, particularly once you dial in the required falloff.

We were extremely happy with the final result, as was our client.
